What do you do when you suddenly have more time on your hands? You’ve worked for years, then you’re wondering how to fill the hours.

Of course, the global COVID-19 pandemic has focused many people’s minds on this. But for retired people, this is a situation that is lived out daily.

Many of us look forward to retirement, to a time when we can relax, and enjoy time with family and friends. But retirement can also be a shock to the system.

You maybe find you’ve got nothing particularly important to do. You might feel you have lost your purpose in life. Perhaps you’re feeling lonely.

At Scalesceugh Hall & Villas, homeowners are keen to engage with each other as much as possible, it’s a friendly retirement community and activities are planned, discussed and arranged as a social group.

But retired people can be of different ages and with very different physical and mental abilities, and different reasons for wanting to fill their time.

Take inspiration from this list of retirement hobbies — it’s quite comprehensive so something should appeal!

Then search the internet, your local newspaper, social media or other guide to find out how you can get started.
