You have neglected to mention one of the most dominant factors in people making such voting decisions - the influence of the right wing press. America is equally as dumb because it has Fox News. The billionaire media barons have their own agendas and the 'little people' who read and watch the news just take it all as fact. This world of misinformation needs a reset.
