I have read both articles with interest. It is fascinating, and at the same time terrifying, to watch from outside the American bubble. I am based in the UK. Rest assured, much of the world is on board with the climate crisis. So much so that I've stopped worrying about educating conspiracy theorists and just work with the millions who are willing to do what is necessary to make a difference. America terrifies the rest of the world because 70 million voted for Trump - so Republicans could easily get back in power sometime soon and start killing the natural world again. So many people on the right of politics have no faith in science - and indeed their faith is something that holds many back, too. In many ways, America is still a primitive country. The major problem I see - and that is reflected, but to a lesser degree in the UK - is that the media is your main problem. The messaging to the public is crucial, and when you have so many people believing that Fox 'News' is actually 'news', great damage is being done. A mass education programme, which has nothing at all to do with politics, nothing at all to do with scientists close to politics, and nothing to do with the biased media, is desperately needed.
